Charlotte NC is known for its proximity to Lake Norman, the largest fresh water lake in NC.   About 20 miles north of Uptown Charlotte, the lower lake area is an easy commute to Uptown. Mooresville- the upper lake- is very popular among Lowes exec's (HQ is 15 minutes away)  and folks from Winston-Salem.  It's known for sunsets, watersports and big water views.

Charloteean's also are familiar with Lake Wylie, another lake on the Catawba, about 10 miles to the Southwest of Charlotte, straddling the border of NC and SC. Lake Wylie, the older of the two large nearby lakesis best known for the annual bass fishing tournaments- the two lakes are the best known lakes in the area. Both are working lakes with steam plants on each, and nuclear power nearby.

But what you may not know, within an hour, there is even more water.
